Rebecca Sutter, DNP, APRN, BC-FNP

Dr. Rebecca Sutter is an Associate Professor in the School of Nursing at George Mason University. Her work focuses on improving access to healthcare for vulnerable populations and integrating evidence-based screening practices in community settings. She has extensive community collaborations and serves as the Director of a network of eight Academic Nurse-managed community clinics, which are strategically located in medically underserved areas in Northern Virginia to increase access for underserved and vulnerable populations. Dr. Sutter has developed, implemented, and evaluated a model of community healthcare access and navigation based on The Bridge Care Model, which uses a systems approach to improve care and promote collaboration between public health, public safety, and health to ensure that evidence-based treatment is available for at risk and marginalized individuals, families, communities, and populations. Dr. Sutter’s work has been funded by multiple federal organizations, such as the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) as well as the Potomac Health Foundation. Dr. Sutter is the recipient of multiple honors, including a 2017 Jack Wood Award Recipient (Partnership Initiative Category) from George Mason University, a 2017 Virginia Nurse Practitioner of the Year award from the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, and a 2015 American Association of Nurse Practitioners Evelyn E. Cohelan Faculty Leadership Award from George Mason University.
